lol a customer wanted business cards to be made and designed Right Fucking Now because in retail nobody ever wants to wait for these things. I told the guy we need payment for the cards and if in case it takes too long to make the designs to his liking, he will be charged extra. You know, regular art/design business procedure.
He complained about the price and said he won't pay until he sees the designs first, which is, you know, not what we do. Because if we did that we're going to be wasting our time getting the design how he likes it and well the customer never knows what they want design wise, hence why we charge extra if he decides to waste our time.
I smell a shitty little brat that's going to be a pain in the ass, because if he's throwing a tantrum Now when he hasn't even paid for it, then he's going to be insufferable through the process.
If it were me handling this I would've just been like "sorry lol but get bent" just so I won't have to work with him. Other manager agreeed, but main manager managed to get a deal done and got him to pay some money so trainee and I got designs for his cards done for him in a speedy time.
He then emailed back, saying he hates the designs and wants a refund. Well sir since trainee and i spent time to get it done and get it done quick as he requested And just because you've been a petulant asshole about this, boss and manager is only going to give you a partial refund. I won't be around to see the guy and I wish godspeed and luck with my coworkers that's going to deal with him
Sitting here like lol I told ya so about working with him after he complains before putting money in. But I post this here not bc 1) You Should Charge Upfront for Commissions Even As A Freelancer and if the client wants more revisions charge them so they don't waste your time 2) know when to refuse a jackass client so you won't spend headache after headache dealing with them, but also
Dang I do not regret spending less hours at day job so I can build my portfolio back up and I'm glad I'm not the sole designer at the store anymore. It's no wonder it was hard for me to do anything art and design wise at home thanks to jackasses like sir fuckoff today and boss telling me i have to work with assholes like him if i want to get a raise for my design efforts. I just hope trainee doesn't take jackass's retort personal bc he did a good job on those cards and id hate for his enthusiasm to do art to be crushed from working at the store, like what happened to me
