i am glad we only thought, "wow, just like hit video game Watch Underscore Dogs ™️ Legion" once during the entirety of london trip (so far save getting home)

so, go fest 2023 happened
a reminder that sometimes this game, when it works (conceptually and technically) it works; it may never be what it was in 2016 but it can still bring people together
i have never seen so many people in one place looking down at their phones
possibly a longer write up once i'm back home
because i am in london for a pokemon go event, and pokemon go is a game where things can and will break spectacularly at a moment’s notice - i’ve decided to reinstall twitter on my phone and re-enable notifications, just so i have some advance warning
bear in mind i deleted it before the rebrand, when the rate limiting started happening - and had notifications turned off for it for a while before that
and i can’t explain it but even just receiving a notification feels so much worse than it used to
like, both of the masto apps i use show the icon of the person that interacted. a small opportunity to be reminded of a friend in a visual way. twitter?
X
needless to say it’s coming off my phone again on the journey home
i’m in london for pokemon go related reasons
i do not generally like london, it’s a lot busier and more expensive than most places we go, and a reminder of how underfunded other parts of the UK are
we can only really stomach a trip every five years or so
but while i have a lot to complain about with the tube
(the stations are mazes! the actual trains are like a furnace if the aircon isn’t working!)
i do like that i can tap in and tap out of them just by lifting my hand with my watch
i use a walking stick/cane and while it isn’t sometimes a problem to do the double tap of the side button apple usually wants for authentication, i appreciate being able to skip that for tis purpose without having to try and fumble with a line behind me
