Yes! I live in the historically important former mill city of Lowell in the north-east of Massachusetts.

We're famous for textiles and also treating Irish-Catholic immigrant women so poorly that it helped grant us the eight hour work day and labor organizing rights. Every public student within 50 miles of here has probably been required to read Lyddie at least several times.

Nowadays, we're mostly famous for the University of Massachusetts buying up the entire town.

Went to the Lowell Folk Festival today. It was fun! Lots of food, music, and folk crafts from all over.

It was a great day for it — the weather has finally stopped being either rainy or oppressively hot. Lots of food stalls down there with a huge array of options, but long lines. I did get to try Armenian, Liberian, and Jamaican food though (mostly samosas, meat pies, and baked goods).
