this post contains discussion of subjects that some may find icky or perhaps even squicky, but the author wishes you to read it because it's some awful shit. for those already aware, this post is in regards to Yesterday's Patreon Shit.

opened 1password today to find that it had auto-updated, and the release notes for the new update said "Updated the notice about the now deprecated 1Password Classic extension. {OPW-5170}".
I wondered if maybe they would finally let me say "i'm using a browser that isn't chrome or edge, and so won't go manifest v3", but no, it turns out that "Updated the notice" actually means "Removed the ability to use the existing (better) native extension for 1Password entirely". I'm still using this because I simply don't like the new extension and I don't like 1Password 8.
Charitably, I could say this was an untested change or something that will be fixed later, but I'm interpreting this as a deliberate move to break the old extension for people that won't be forced by their browser to upgrade, and that really sucks. 1Password has long been my favourite password manager, and although I wasn't super on-board with them moving to a subscription model, I went along with it.

I guess this is the end? Maybe I could switch to KeePass, since I understand that's a native application in most places, but.. man I don't want to.

sure it's really cool that my IDE can give me some pretty advanced information about the code i'm writing in real-time but i wish it would wait until document save before it gives me warnings about things. i don't need to be warned about a useless assignment to an unused variable when i haven't written the code that uses the variable yet, you're just giving me anxiety for fun jetbrains
