i generally rly like the lack of numbers and metrics here. i still want to see when people reblog stuff i reblogged. and not having a way to view a list of things people say on my own damn posts just feels like its taking away my ability to interact with people, i dont like it.

i personally like that theres no attempt at a dopamine hit from getting notifs on reblogs of reblogs, but no notif for additions after youve added is lame, ill admit

i get what you mean! i like this website trying to avoid cheap number go up design, but theres a sense of connection when i see someone like or rb something i rbed, yknow? we both saw the same thing and liked it! ive built several meaningful friendships with people that pretty much started with that. basically every other design decision theyve made to keep numbers and stuff hidden is something i agree with, but these specific ones feel unnecessary to me

thats so interesting, i had a lot of mutuals that would consistently rb my rb's and vice versa but nothing ever came out of it it was just kinda like- neat i guess?
also update on my addition you do get notifs when people add to posts youve added to yourself, so did i misunderstand and what you meant was theres no like- notes section on a post where you can see what everyone said regardless of the chain? still super new to the site, just joined yesterday lol

in general i think opting in to things is best, but then again the team seems pretty set on shaping the culture in a way they deem best, so i could see them being afraid it would become common knowledge youre supposed to opt in or whatever, that wouldnt surprise me in the slightest. like give people the option to opt in to metrics and im sure a ton of people would against their better judgement hop right back into the numbers game

yea, my main issue is that even if you get notified, that notification is easily buried and there isnt a way to just click on a post and see the notes when that happens. funnily enough that almost happened to your first reply on this post, but i got notified that someone liked your addition to it. comments are easily viewed at least, but tags and additions being inaccessible in that way seems unreasonable to me. it just puts an arbitrary barrier on being able to talk to people!
i also definitely share your fears about opt in metrics just turning this website into chasing numbers.. its a difficult thing to balance but i think the team has gotten a lot of stuff right so far. they will continue to figure out what works and what doesnt and im hopeful that my issues will get addressed eventually in one way or another
