assuming we're talking about the original and not bubsy visits the james turrell art retrospective 2, it's not good, but i can at least see a spark in it - it was an inexperienced studio working at the cutting edge, and it's sometimes not too surprising if someone in that situation loses an arm.
i thoroughly believe they would have done a much better job if they'd been allowed to take a second shot rather than making syphon filter (sony having already backed crash by that point), and i'd be more interested in a remake than i would be a lot of better games just to see an answer to the questions of "how far would you need to go to fix this?" and "can you do that while still keeping it recognizable?"

i do still hum some of the music occasionally. its influence on me is... undeniable, to say the least

also fuck both of the endings and i'm glad i cheated to see them

  1. disclaimer: i have not played the woolies strike back or paws on fire, so maybe those are worse. it would take some effort to top the animated series pilot though.

  2. i wonder if that's still playable these days, i feel like if it was more people would have rediscovered it
