a Daruma doll is a good luck charm who's eyes start out blank. You make a wish and fill in the left eye with ink, and once the wish comes true you fill in the other eye. I think stuff like this is always super neat and a good motivation at times too.
the image here is a digital painting but I actually originally started this out as a traditional acrylic painting, but I didn't like it very much. So after it had dried, I took the scanned painting into Rebelle 5 to do some little touchups, and basically ended up redoing the entire painting digitally after that. Added a quick background, and some shading, and bam; the painting you're seeing now is the result. Working with traditional acrylic paint was a lot of fun and very refreshing since i don't actually paint very much, so i may pick-up some new paints and maybe i'll be uploading some more traditional stuff in the future one day. ^^
