i playtested this one, it’s a very interesting experience! might be fun for a blind playthrough stream? music & visuals are lovely, as is typical for @Nifflas platformers — but even if you think you know what to expect from a Nifflas platformer, i think this game will still surprise you (it surprised me!). keep in mind it’s meant to be played in a single ⁓30 minute session and has no save feature as such.

with how the game’s soundscape is powered by Nifflas’s fully‐custom algorithmic adaptive music software, this of course doesn’t replace the experience you get from playing the game itself and hearing the music respond to your actions, but it’s still cool to have a more portable slice of the generative art that you can take with you.

trying to play through every Nifflas game. apparently they had a cohost account, but they left.

since they're a traitor to the site, I have no shame in saying I found within a deep forest frustrating. i dont like the mechanics of having different balls, some of which are worse than others; i don't like having to downgrade my controls to solve puzzles. i DNFed the game shortly after getting the yoga ball: utopica was a hell level.

i see a lot of people praise the game for being frustrating: it's more likely that i simply didnt align well with it than that it was objectively bad. the ball idea in general is very good, and the atmosphere and music are excellent, but the level design and the need to switch to worse balls, especially in levels that arbitrarily require the glass ball, grates on me.

im currently working on finishing knytt, i feel like ill like it a lot better.
