Merlin is just his name. He's not a take on the Arthurian wizard, just named after him. This is Mari's doting, chill dude boyfriend. The corset and short jacket outfit is his "raided my closet" take on his Dungeons and Dragon character. Otherwise, his outfits are pretty low-key.
