Amber is the odd one out among her family of artists, having chose to explore engineering instead. She'd always held a fascination with machines. She was born with a missing right arm, and after countless hours of development, built a prosthetic replacement that she uses daily. The arm got her a scholarship to a prestigious engineering school, where she thrived. After school, once the hype wore down, she realized the arm was the only real major accomplishment she'd made until then. Suddenly, everything she did in comparison felt lackluster, and so began a long spat with perfectionism.

One day, while scanning the beach with her metal detector, she ran into a strange blue creature that had washed ashore...

Some choice panels from The Gifts of Darkness that I have previously used as the comic update previews (on tumblr, the comic's patreon account, etc.). I can just dump some of them here for a low effort post about my comic. Well, the post is low effort. The art, let's say, not exactly.

Looking in the update previews folder I realize, in almost all of them, Val looks sweet and smiling... which is literally his chosen presentation to hide all of his sadness. Oh, the thematic irony.

Also the tumblr version of this post was longer but I don't feel like doing the >4 pictures trick right now for cohost, I'll just put more pictures later in a separate post, it's not like it has to be all in one.
