Wormeaters have no sense of modesty in their culture (actually they sniff each other's butts to say hello) but Scallop was raised in a human culture that places a lot of value on modesty. I think he would ask to wear modest clothes of his own volition, even though that meant he would be a lot more dependent on others to help him with dressing and undressing (and using the toilet and washing up). It is really sacrificing one indignity for another, but his reasoning is it's more tolerable to be helped in private than it is to be exposed in public... Also, no one in his life shames him for needing help with these things. That would be cruel!
As for his fashion sense, Scallop relies on his Baba to choose patterns that will make him look "cool," since he has no real idea of what's "cool." But... Junaid doesn't either... 😅
