Okay, so this is Dr. Benson Rune (left) and Dr. Wilhelm Carry (right)! Benson is the main character of a (fictional) 1930s cartoon short series and Wilhelm is considered one of a rew rivals Benson has in these shorts.
Benson is pretty cheerful and upbeat, though he’s known to use rather unorthodox yet somehow very effective methods for curing illnesses. Wilhelm, on the other hand, is rather fancy and by-the-book (I mean that kind of literally, he actually bases a lot of his knowledge on research books), taking not much of a liking to Benson thinking outside of the box (or uh, first aid kit).
The thing about these shorts is that, yes, while in this case Benson and Wilhelm would appear in medicine commercials (Wilhelm representing the competition of the brand the commercial was for of course), the actual shorts themselves got banned because many characters (including Benson and Wilhelm) were shown holding opinions that people didn’t like (main example being that the characters treated people of color like genuine people).
More triva, if you didn’t guess, these two are actually based off of Dr. Benjamin Rush and Dr. William Currie! Also, I took some inspiration from the Steamboat Willie cartoon when designing them too
And yeah, that’s it :3
Pluton with different bandana colors and patterns!! yippee!!!!!!!
I just did this for fun lol (1/2)
A transcript for the writing will be below.
Making good on my claims and/or threats to use the body sketches from the magical girl drawings as starting points for character sheets.
I don't know if any of these will matter or actually be useful to anyone but myself, but I do feel like it would be good to do. I think it will be nice for me to have these around to help with trying to make things more consistent and so that I don't have to keep going into random previous drawings to grab colors. Maybe one day I'll feel like I can get one or more commissions done.
Also, since it may be of interest, here is an older sheet I tried to do that predates Cohost. The general idea is pretty much the same, but there's some other stuff in there.
Anyway thank something or other for the symmetry tool. The extra drawing in the corner I think took more time although that's ignoring the time spent doing the original body sketch for the magical girl drawing.
