once again thinking about how Lucent is a complete dumbass in only the way very smart people can be
I've decided that gameplay-wise, I might have him seek help with lowering suspicion, but will not seek help with lowering wounds, scandal, or nightmares
because like:
- wounds: he's a doctor! he can take care of himself! and if he can't, that will just be a learning experience for him. death is just an inconvenience here, it's fine
- scandal: he doesn't really care about (or pay that much attention to) what people have to say about him. and anyway he does enjoy the company of tomb-colonists, so it's not a big deal if he has to take a little vacation there. it's fine
- nightmares: nightmares? what nightmares? oh, you mean his absolutely fascinating dreams? yes, they're a little offputting, but there's so much he can glean from them! so many secrets to be glimpsed through the crevasses of sleep. it's fiiiiine
Lady Lambent, meanwhile, readily accepts help with wounds from her few close friends, but doesn't seek help with
- suspicion: she can just disappear for a while to throw the cops off her trail, no need to get someone else embroiled
- scandal: why does she care about what a bunch of idle gossips have to say about her?
- nightmares: she just isn't someone who opens up to others like that
I do have it in my head that she and Lucent are well-acquainted (he helped her out with no strings attached while she was protecting people from Jack-of-Smiles, aka London's perennial serial killer) and have been burning some of Lucent's actions on reducing her wounds accordingly. from what I could tell, it's fine to use alts like this, but I still feel a lil weird about it. hopefully these self-imposed restrictions balance it out somewhat lol
OH MAN I forgot about the part of Fallen London where you have to romance someone in order to progress the story...
...except that it turns out that since the last time I've played, they've added a nonromantic route! BASED. BLESSED. THANK YOU
Fallen London Lucent is somewhat more of a scoundrel at points but he is still aroace and not someone who does fake relationships for social gain. why would he concern himself with something as petty as that when there are SECRETS to discover
living my wildest fantasies in Fallen London, like "being able to buy housing and hand it off to people for free"
the rooftop shack in the flit is actually where Lady Lambent lives. I drew the card on her and was like "okay this is her canonical home so I can't do this with her, but I GOTTA go do this on Lucent. for the children"
(Lucent lives in a cottage by the Observatory on Watchmaker's Hill, because he's a weirdo who doesn't mind being attacked by carnivorous fungi in the middle of the night)
