@februllage day 3: escape
handcut paper collage on matboard
for my fifth year of participating in februllage, i'm making a little artist book! the book is approximately 4.25 x 5, and the pages are made out of scrap matboard. today is the first day i can show the work in conversation/context. i'm finding that i'm laying pages next to each other as i work, seeking some balance in the spreads.
today's piece uses an element from ADDITIONS 2, second in the series of collage-focused decks of cards that my collaborator JPB and i released under the collaborative name MORPHIC ROOMS. the first deck came out in december 2021, and the second just last month! jeremy came to visit minneapolis last month and we made some collages using parts of the first couple of cards from the new deck. the leftovers ended up in my studio scrap bin, and i've been working them into this februllage book. check out @/morphicrooms on instagram if you'd like to learn more about the cards and see them in use! i've included a couple images of them in this post.
februllage is an annual collage project that's taken place since 2019! it's a collaboration between the scandinavian collage museum and edinburgh collage collective. find the prompts and join in by visiting @/februllage on instagram!
