Trying to set up emulators on Steam Deck was a massive waste of my time.
I don't know if it's just because of how I set up EmuDeck a year and a half ago (before subsequently giving up because it put a bunch of non-working emulation shortcuts in my Deck library) or if I'm just cursed with tech or because I'm a fucking moron with anything Linux-related, but shit doesn't work even when I follow instructions
I tried to use this thing called EmulationStation-DE to manage all my emulators and stuff under one app but the fucking thing WON'T EVEN START.
Like. For fuck's sake. I just wanted to play F-Zero Climax on a handheld and I don't feel like shopping for a second-hand copy to shove into my dusty old DS or GBA SP, assuming it isn't like $400 already due to retro game grifters.
We got Nintendo switch online so my kid can play Minecraft with some friends. It comes with a virtual console like thing and I thought “oh! Yoshi’s island is supposed to be great!”
Half an hour later, I understand I am unable to play this game. Most of it is fine! Fun, kind of novel (for the time) platforming. Until you make a mistake, and then twice as loud as the rest of the sounds:
HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY!
