Just read The Nightmare of Fabrication in a sudden need to experience and read something existential, as I'm feeling that right now and it makes me feel a lot of things that I'm not even sure I can fully parse and truly get to the extent i want to (specially considering that it's a companion piece to the PS1 game).
there's a constant air of dissociation, despite desperately trying to hold onto what you are. while in the comic, Lain's situation with that is much more dire, i can still in parts relate, maybe as much as the next person? there's various things i remember that im not even sure ever really happened, the memory of which i can feel and understand that it likely happened but am unable to have complete certainty that just feels like a gut punch, specially when some of the half remembered moments are feel like they were formative in some sort of way yet isn't saved by my brain at all.
But what do I know, I'm typing this at 1:35am while listening to the Yume Nikki soundtrack while in an odd state emotionally. Definitely gonna read this over a few times in different mindstates, as I feel like I can get a lout of this 20 page oneshot. complicated but interesting feelings
