And that's the tip of the iceberg I've seen a lot of shit about how there's villains and characters shove made massive influences on the plot of the games but never really... Appear or do anything or get any recognition? Like at all?

I'm fascinated by how different staring at your ceiling in complete darkness VS having your eyes closed feel.

In both cases, you're not seeing anything, it's all dark.

But in one case, you're actively seeing nothing and in the other, you're passively seing nothing.

It quite instantly changes the whole mindset.
