And I'm here to remind you of the stuff you have to do once Cohost goes read-only!
But before then, don't forget to add your links to your cohost profile! When @staff sends out the data export, you'll get a list of all the contact links of everyone you follow. So add your links so that your followers can, well, follow you!
Anyway:
- When cohost goes read only and stops accepting new accounts, it'll be pointless to link your cohost profile on your other social media accounts. So be sure to update your links to wherever you're posting now, whether it's your blog or your other social media profiles.
- If you have a website or can have more than one link in your bio (like on Mastodon) you can instead move the link to your cohost profile to somewhere else, more "out of the way", and mark it as an archive. That way, anyone who wants to check out your "chosts" can easily do so.
- Delete your cohost related browser extensions, userscripts, and styles. They'll only slow down your browser now that you don't need them.
- Although, if you think you'll be visiting cohost in its read only state, you only need to remove the scripts and extensions related to making a post, and keep the ones that make viewing them easier.
- The person who runs this blog, @obspogon, plans to make a backup of his userscripts and styles before he deletes his cohost things. That way, he can extract them and upload them to the Internet Archive, just in case!
- (@obspogon here, and in my opinion you can archive what you want tbh)
- Unfollow all the RSS feeds of those cohost accounts you followed. Now that cohost is going read-only, there will be no more new posts from them. Exceptions include @staff, who will continue posting to provide updates, and any feeds which have posts you've starred, since I don't know what will happen to your starred posts when you unfollow a feed.
- Follow the siiva-bangers tumblr account, whether through tumblr or RSS!
- Check out SiIvaGunner himself! Listen to the latest rips, go through the albums! Check out the wiki (fandom-hosted, you might want to use Indie Wiki Buddy to proxy through breezewiki or something similar)! There's a whole world of mashups, events, and even lore out there for you to find.
Thank you for reading. I hope this will help you find your footing after the shutdown. Goodbye, and don't forget to read the channel description!
