#silent hill 2

@Gwen

oh the writing in silent hill: the short message is like... bad-bad. It is embarrassingly bad. Like 'did they even try' bad. It's like what you'd expect an SNL skit making fun of silent hill to be like.

The edgy teen protagonist walks around talking to herself saying stuff like 'i'm trapped. i was always trapped' and it opens with a note from the character to her future self saying 'i want to be like a lone wolf. relying on people is weakness and i don't want to be weak.'

I'm legitimately convinced that "IT'S TRAUMA" and "HERE COMES CULTS" shit from the awful ai-generated fmv garbage they did is actually like... a Konami directed brand strategy. Just awful.

combat looks clunky but honestly that's fine, that's sort of what i'd prefer. no major story scenes showcased, just a lot of enemies and environments, so no way to really judge how they're handling story yet. walking around looks like most other horror game remakes of its caliber (the REmakes, Dead Space, etc).

as much as i've spoken before about how sh2 being handed to Bloober Team concerns me due to their handling of storylines involving trauma in the past, i genuinely want them to prove me wrong. i want the sh2 remake to come out and hear that it nails everything it set out to do 100% with little to no caveats. i want to hear that my fears were unfounded.

i would like nothing more than to wake up on the day that the review embargo for sh2 remake lifts and hear that all the things i and others have criticized Bloober Team for in the past are nowhere to be found and that the updated silent hill 2 has been given the respect a narrative of its caliber deserves and that glory glory hallelujah a new golden age of silent hill has finally been ushered into this world.

of course we'd need an actual goddamn release date for it first.
