I still have some auditory processing disorder ("only some?") but I gotta say the weirdest version of it was the stretch of years in high school where for some reason my brain bitcrushed anyone talking to me if they had a deep voice. There was a bafflingly specific octave range where it didn't matter how clearly or legibly someone spoke, I was hosed.
This was the age where I turned lip-reading into the in-person version of subtitles, come to think of it.
Fortunately my meat hit some more branches on its fall out of the metaphorical tree and these days I am totally normal!.1 But in retrospect the specificity was weird.
- "Totally normal?" Auditory processing disorder is the least of my spoken language problems, thank you very much!1!
