-wow this is surprisingly gory for a JRPG takeoff, those are definitely decapitated furry heads that are also expressing incredible pain

-I'll forgive Buki getting a leopard print outfit a bit because she is at least already part cat

-The melee combat kind of blows because enemies have a mountain of health once you get a full party. I like the idea of completing three hit combos to cause specific attacks at the end for big damage or situational use, but the bonkers nature of combat with auto lock-on and the early to mid 2000s action game frazzled animations makes things too chaotic to get really fancy with it.

Ailish and Elco are more fun with their FPS play because evasion is much easier, letting you dart around and take pot shots or use skills to help your DPS and tank (Buki and Tal). Ailish is especially useful as a main because you have quick access to her healing spells and I think this game made me realize I would be a healer in an MMO ho saw my entire party as meat shields.

-I like the party dynamics. Buki stands up for the ways of her people but is also a good judge of character, Elco is awkward but ultimately good-natured and trying to help, Ailish plays up her weak princess archetype to get what she wants while proving herself just as capable as her companions, and Tal is surprisingly awkward in a realistic way I relate to. He's bad at conversations and tends to stick to problem solving and supporting the group somehow, but opens up a bit as he spends more time with the group. Why can't generic anime protagonists be more like this.
