I didn't watch Doctor Who Flux because I was... let me check my diary here... oh yes, that's right, "beset by a deep and all-permeating melancholy". But given that Jodie Whittaker's final ride as The Doctor airs in two weeks or so I'm gonna finally catch up on that and the two specials that have aired since.

Post-watch update: I cannot believe that this aired during primetime on the BBC. It was a third as long as it needed to be to actually deliver the story beats it was going for, delivered in an incredibly abstract form at times, and I wholly understand why so many people bounced off it so hard.

I'm glad it exists! There's so many strong ideas here and they're just thrown at the wall with reckless abandon and only half of it sticks, but what a half. And the show has never looked better! They actually try things with the cinematography!

I am happy that I watched it all in one or two sittings, though - even in six episodes there's so many different threads to follow, and so many things that you need to infer because the explanations are barely present if at all.
