I'm just saying, if your technology can potentially be a matter of literal life and death, you should be required by law to make it at least as sturdy as a stovetop clock. If I have a tiny power blip that doesn't even reset the clocks in the kitchen but now I don't have heat in the middle of winter and absolutely no information about why or how to make the thermostat come back online, whoever designed this piece of shit needs to be repeatedly hit with a whiffle bat with "REDUNDANCY AND USABILITY > DIGITAL INTERFACE" written on it.
Anyways I fixed it (there is a power switch hooked up to the HVAC proper (there's a what by the what??) and the ol' OFF→ON worked, no idea how/why) but based on this chost you may be able to guess my current feelings about digital-only interfaces with no physical buttons on them. Or feedback messages. Or user manuals that don't address what to do if things won't turn on.
