every arknights operator who as animal ears and then also visibly has human ears make me want to dunk my head into ice cold water until my brain freezes and i die
I want to know which of the three possibilities it is:
- Only the human ears function for hearing. The animal ears are vestigial.
- Only the animal ears function for hearing. The human ears are vestigial.
- Both sets of ears work. May or may not give them super hearing.
Actually this made me curious so I had to do some sleuthing in game to see if any operators show evidence one way or the other (earpieces and such).

I know for a fact Amiya has no human ears, and she wears an earpiece in one of her rabbit ears. So thats one point for animal ears. The ONLY contradiction, is one of her outfits
this is stupid. But one can assume that they're purely decorative and just move on, considering there is no other evidence pointing towards Amiya having human ears (Including in the anime where we get lots of different viewing angles).
Now. Jessica. I can't find any images that show her ever HAVING human ears, but in her DEFAULT OUTFIT (damning evidence), shes wearing headphones that go over where human ears would be NOT her cat ears.
However Gravel, who appears to have human ears VEEERY subtly in one of her optional costumes, wears what SEEM to be stylized earpieces closer to her animal ears.
But ah, whats this? Frostleaf you say? Indeed. Frostleaf's design features PROMINENTLY a pair of headphones seated where human ears would be.
AAAND lastly Sussurro. She has Big Ole Ears, sure, but we can see in one of her alternate skins that not only does she have human ears as well, but she uses the headphones over her ANIMAL ears.
Basically what im saying is, this shits a mess. Have a nice day. Idk why anyone would have read all this though.
