it has issues & I'll fix those later but for now, i have a desk! it's screwed down onto the frame on the front side & clamped onto the back so the wood is tightly attached but still allows the wood to move a lil under the influence of humidity.

i have no idea if that works or if it's strong enough, but the top is supported pretty well on every part of the board so i don't really foresee any "worst case scenario"-collapse type problems.

wait no it ain't, the neighbors below will complain

but otherwise im starting to build shit tomorrow morning because i need me some damn furniture now! also pull saws are neat :)

i like hand tools, even though it's a lot more effort

it's tung oil + beeswax + a lil bit of turpentine to soften it & to give it a very nice pine resin smell :)

before you ask: it tastes like tung oil and turpentine and not in a good way

however much wood glue you think is enough, it isn't.

absolutely slathered it on on the last glue I had to do and it still wasn't enough & didn't fill the gap completely.

it's still a strong bond because apparently wood glue is extremely fucking strong (i did NOT know that) but it does need some filling to get a gapless seam

I've only just slammed the oil on, and as expected the bits covered with glue won't absorb oil; i was unable to remove these due to lack of good tools, but I'll resurface this once i do have decent tools.

still pretty good for a first woodworking diy project!
