everyone is envious of orphne's byzantine-inspired swag. she did have her clothing made in the kingdom of euas, where she resides and studies as a sorceress, rather than importing it from her homeland of the ilian basilearchy, but she had it based on ilian designs.

Everyone loves a good Act 3 makeover and/or traumatic limb amputation.
This is not a strictly historical design but I did try to draw from the era of transitional armor, when people were adding pieces to mail armor but hadn't yet adopted full metal plate. Mererid's shield (not pictured) buckles onto her left vambrace and is supported by a cross-body strap.
mererid's otherworld armor... she probably should not look up "bedwyr bedrydant" if she doesn't want to worry about what's going to happen to her left hand. i tried to go for a more transitional plate look instead of a full encased in armor one.
also i think reading star wars the last command by timothy zahn at an early age broke my brain bc i keep looking at this and thinking "mereriid skywalker"
i adjusted the design a bit to make it clearer that mererid is wearing a coat of plates with cloth on the outside and armored pieces riveted inside underneath her plackart and tassets and changed the pose to make her missing hand more apparent. also added detail for the mail shirt ofc. the plackart is from a later era than transitional armor but i thought it added visual interest.
