how do you like your robotron?

a psychedelic, cosmic twin stick shooter with a surprising amount of ambience to go with the timelessly addictive loop of "protect the civvies, shoot the baddies, grab the goodies" makes for something thats real easy to get into the flow state of. its always a refreshing thing to play not just something on the explicitly arcadey side in a world of roguelites and 60.. wait right i forgot 70 dollar odysseys (jesus christ guys), and does it deliver with its honing of old tropes and mechanics brought to a modern sheen. punchy sounds and enemies bouncing off and streaking across the ground in multicolored blood when they explode make for more than enough of a presentation standout. i always really liked pixel art styles that lean on the simplistic side of things with two colors max per sprite, and satyrn uses it to great effect to make the information overload as crisp as ever.

managed to get to level 22 with a score of 2 million, but this absolutely has its appeal in being something to unwind with, and for that im happy that games like this are still being made.
