A couple of arcade 1-credit clears: Fighting Vipers 2 is a chaotic, fun 3D fighter with some oddball features like breaking character "armor". And then Fit of Fighting is a truly dank bootleg of Art of Fighting which adds more playable characters and takes away a lot of other things (like sprite scaling, smooth framerate, sensible hit detection...)

I've been looking through my spreadsheet of arcade games, cataloging ones to consider for 1cc purposes. Given the recent clears of F-1 Dream, Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition, Fighting Vipers 2, and Fit of Fighting you can probably guess which letter I'm on...

A cleansing ask for your inbox. I'm new here so forgive me if you've answered this recently but-

What has been the most fun you've had playing a game this year?

HMMMMMMMM this one is hard ahaha. I mentioned Cow Life Sim RPG last time, so I should pick a new one for this ask.

I started playing through Pokemon Fool's Gold on my Miyoo Mini+ and that's been a ton of fun! I haven't played Gen2 in a while so it's been fun to both re-explore Johto and also see the cool remixes of old Pokemon. I need to get back to adding to my screenshot thread on Mastodon, and then find some way of porting all that over to my blog somehow, ahaha. (That said, if you plan on playing through for yourself, I HIGHLY recommend going in with no prior knowledge of what the Pokemon types and movesets are, and ESPECIALLY what their designs look like.)

In general, this year I've finally started getting into homebrew and romhacks, again because of my Miyoo. My current rotation of quick pick-me-up games are Cosmic Collapse, a Suika-like; From Below on NES, a Tetris-like; and Block Droppin' on GBC, a Bejeweled-like. I have sunk more time into those three games this year than I care to admit ahaha... I don't know if these games are fun for me so much as like, a soothing balm for when I kinda just need to shut out the world for a while and not think too much about stuff.

My other, far more boring answer, is that I've gotten back into Monster Hunter Rise on Switch again. Tonight we finally cleared Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax (!!) and Amatsu (!!!), so we're riding high at the moment. We took a long (year+) break from the game, so getting back into it has been a whole process of relearning how to do everything, which has been tons of fun.
