With the impending remake of Riven, I was thinking about more times that are impossible to go back to. Duckman: The Graphic Adventures of a Private Dick represents that bygone era perfectly. Based on the cartoon, voiced by Seinfeld star Jason Alexander, the PC point-and-click follows that exact spirit, though not even the actor wanted to reprise the role.

Unless you're deep into Gen X, the permeating blasé attitude, dash of sexism and other outdated nihilism is probably going to dissuade many from partaking in the otherwise sound and colorful adventure. It even has music by Tommy Tallarico. Oof!

For 5 dollars I wasn't sure what to expect, so far the AI is easy af. However the game also doesn't tell you when you have tenpai at all, so you actually have to pay attention to your hand and your opponents discards unlike in games like Mahjong Soul. (I mean yes, you pay attention to your hand in those too, but not at the same level as "real" mahjong). I've had multiple draw games against the AI but so far it hasn't scored a direct hit and I'm in first place with over 41k points.

Edit: There is one time the game will tell you you're in tenpai and that's when you have a closed hand and can call Riichi. It won't tell you what your waits are though. Also there's no option to turn on Numbers so you have to actually learn the tiles.

This hand right here is a good example of the "not knowing". I didn't realize I was in a wait because the game doesn't tell you and I'm not always perceptive of knowing when my hands are ready. On review, yes I was on a single wait for a 2 pin, but at a glance unless you are super good at mahjong you won't notice.
