Apologies if they screenshots are pretty dark, been playing with HDR on and it did not look like that when I took the pics.

Just started playing this as I'd seen people giving it a lot of praise with reviews and since it released, so thought I like horror and good games lets play it.

What struck me first was just how much I'm getting out of it purely from the Scottish dialect and voice acting. I think it's amazing and everyone has done a great job bringing life to the setting and characters. I think there is that comfort from it because it reminds me of my grandparents and my mum who's taught me a lot of that language. I find genuine comfort in voices here despite the horrors.

The game is just really pretty too. I struggle to take in environments sometimes but here, I want to get an idea of what sort of day to day there might've been. How the recreational area looks like your average pub and you have a scrunched up piece of paper with everyone's names on it from a dart tournament. How the different workers display their rooms to get an idea of how they might talk and appear if you are to see them. I mean, you know that a guy called Addair who's room has got crap like pro-Britain and anti-immigrant posters is going look like and sound like a prick.

Haven't witnessed all too many horrors yet in the hour I have played but despite that I think this is a great game so far and need to play more after work.

My latest arcade one-credit clears:

  • Sen-Know is an unhinged (in both theme and ruleset) arcade puzzle game, sort of like Vs. Pipe Dream. Stacking up a big combo of elbow macaroni is enough to stomp the CPU AI into oblivion.
  • F-1 Dream is a classic Capcom racing game. Weirdly, you repeatedly tap a direction to turn your car toward facing that direction. As in Blomby Car, "push right" means "turn to the right of the screen" not "your car turns toward its right")
  • Mouse Shooter GoGo is an oddball puzzle game, where you must get good at dodging the DVD Screensaver Attack. The Puzzle Wednesday discord server has given me some IDEAS about puzzle game clears.
  • Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition is a Neo Geo 64 game with horrible haunted sound emulation. The spirits of arcade games I have wronged in the past assail my ears.

That's probably it for me until Summer Yolympics kicks off, then I'll hopefully be using that as an excuse to clear at least one game from the lineup.
