see, the nice thing about not keeping up to date with The Games Industry is that a) I don't have to deal with insufferable people as frequently b) when I do come across a piece of news that is interesting to me, it's like a little treat! But dang I just had not one but two very timely pieces of info pop up within only hours lol, oh well I'm still down
so apparently Starfield is having some uh. pretty significant stuff happen right now: haven't pinned down everything going on, but 1) a significant patch just dropped like an hour ago 2) apparently Bethesda released the official trailer for the first expansion pack only four hours ago 3) hooooly shit Creation Kit dropped finally (alongside the paid store but we all knew that was coming [honestly surprised -- genuinely -- the store wasn't included either at launch of Starfield or like. within a week or month. it took them this long to put a storefront in front of us.]) Been anxious to check out the Creation Kit for Starfield for. well. pretty much since the game came out: something about Starfield has lit some sort of creative spark in me that I haven't felt for a Bethesda game since Oblivion. I have Thoughts about this, but not for this chost. But yeah! Starfield Creation Kit! I'm stoked. People were already modding the game the day it launched, but I was specifically waiting to see the official toolkit.
the other cool bit of news I happened to run into was uh. Apparently the Age of Mythology remake had a bunch of info drop today as well? I was just poking around their site just earlier this week because I've been chomping at the bit to know more about this title forEVer, and they just released like all the info I could ever want about it earlier. Not only do we have the actual release date for September of this year, but they also finally showed us what the actual game\assets look like in action. There was some little teaser thing they gave us a little while ago showing specific units or something, but this was a proper release trailer. Since it's an RTS (remake of a game from decades ago), I don't really care about what the game looks like graphically, but I was VERY curious to see what kind of aesthetic they would choose with stuff like animations and environment. RTS games are very much a "feel" sort of thing for me, so being able to just look at it and see things isn't really helpful for me to know whether or not I'll like it, but I'm just glad to actually see things finally culminating in a release after SO so long for this title. Plus the fact that it will actually release this year is pretty promising imo, this thing has been in the oven for a while at this point and I don't really think any more time is gonna make a meaningful impact to the final product. I'll be happy to play it even if it winds up being utter trash lol, been waiting for this one for a while.
