Groaning.
Arteries perpetually clogged.
Feverish.
Crumbling from within.
Constantly under attack from parasites.
Trying to suck me dry.
Remake me in their image.
Ultimately destroy me.

But still I persevere.
Because this is where you live.
And I want to cradle you for as long as you'll let me.

Then I wake up, and you're not there,
but I know I'll see you again tonight.
