Before he was born, Alchemax opened a facility in their neighbourhood. For years the biochemical factory polluted and poisoned the surrounding air and water. It left many mutated and sick. Alchemax blocked the creation of treatments because the pollutants still counted as their intellectual property. Left untreated, the conditions of some people deteriorated severely and they died.
This included their parents. Sharmaine too, was left with severe blood poisoning and mutated hands. Fuelled by rage, he worked his ass off in school, earning him an internship spot in Alchemax. He planned to use this opportunity to steal the corporation’s trade secrets and create the treatment their community was denied. Deep within Alchemax, he found the source of the corporation’s bioengineering breakthroughs, the dead corpse of an extraterrestrial symbiotic organism.
Stealing the corpse for themself, his first attempt to create a cure failed. Instead, the dead symbiote bonded with his marrows and replaced all their blood with alien cells.
