Watched the first SEED compilation movie today and thought it was Gundam SEED at hyperspeed. Then absolutely lost my shit when I realised they shoved 21 episodes of the show into a single 90 minute movie. The editing of that movie is just so fascinating.

I've never actually given the Destiny compilations a watch so I'm eager to get around to them with my friends to see how they land. The first SEED movie has absolutely not improved anything and entire important sequences are cut because it is trying to squish way too much into 90 minutes, but it also has one of the funniest deployments of a TM Revolution insert song I've ever seen.

I think I remember that! Also, IIRC, they re-edited the sex scene back into the HD reversioning of the TV show (which in its original broadcast incarnation was less explicit).

The Destiny films are framed by Athrun's narration, if memory serves, which is an interesting device.

Yeah, there was a recent Fukuda interview where he mentioned how Athrun was made the narrator in response to debates over who Destiny's lead was. I'm curious how much that'll change the experience because he is basically the only main character to stick through both Shinn and Kira's runs.
