Self-teaching linguistics after dabbling in a bunch of languages without getting super far makes me feel so dumb and smart at the same time, especially since I know better about language acquisition.
I'm like, retroactively realizing what I didn't understand about German when I gave it a half-hearted attempt almost a decade ago (the case system), but also, I know that I could have just kept up with it and eventually I'd get it, too.
Once I'm done with this zine, I'm definitely revisiting a couple languages and doing things the right way to acquire them, using a little linguistics as just a lubricant rather than a crutch.
