god media illiteracy is such an epidemic. ugh. one more time i guess for the people who also forgot to take away the right lesson from fight club and american psycho:

you are supposed to relate to scott pilgrim. he is intended to be an aspirational model for youth with the strong values that he lives out and is just like you fr

in reply to @kaara's post:

this is a reference to comic/movie/soon to be anime Scott Pilgrim. the titular character, Scott, is an awful person. I promoted the anime in a previous post.

in this post I have transposed Scott into the real world and I am pretending to have just learned about how awful he is, and regret promoting the anime in a tumblr/twitter style "Just learned that X is problematic" post.

this is humorous because Scott is not a real person and is in fact, fictional. Scott being an awful person is central to the story, and the story follows him becoming a better person (its quite complicated)

there is an extra bit of humor to this post in that people who have never seen Scott Pilgrim before may go and watch this anime, see how awful Scott is, and will likely miss the point that he is supposed to be The Worst. I am poking fun at the future where a post like this is written in seriousness. (though, only lightly)
