this small artist book (about 3 inches in length) became the basis for august's zine, « FLOW VELOCITY »
sixteen pages, self-cover, bound with vintage silk thread found in vienna in a slip-knot style. see previous post for the zine adaptation of this project!
each page is made from scrap matboard that @/sleopoldsullivan has been saving for me from framing projects, and is built up with many layers to achieve the final highly textured surface.
might make a little video to give a sense of how it hangs, moves, sounds--it is sort of 'clacky' when you move it around, almost like a hollow wooden chime. satisfying!
the goal with this book was to make something that was fairly abstract throughout, with lots of surface texture and depth that form a unified art-object, rather than individual artworks contained in a book format. binding it in just one area allows for it to be arranged and handled in a variety of ways.
