SO. We walked into dnd. This is session 3 of a long-term campaign. Our DM starts off by reminding us where we ended last session, which was that we had all fallen asleep for the night, and woken up in a strange place, facing a very spiky creature seemingly made out of ruby crystal.

Then the DM handed out OUR NEW CHARACTER SHEETS????

We were level 1, but our new sheets were all level 5, and DIFFERENT CLASSES??

Our Barbarian had been multiclassed into Druid; our Monk had multiclassed into Barbarian; one of our Wizards was now fully a (Wild Magic) Sorcerer, and the other Wizard (me, aka Everett, pictured above), was still a wizard, but with the necromancy subclass of all things. I came to with a skeleton standing next to me! And one of my spell slots for "animate dead" ticked off!!!

( A little worldbuilding note: necromancy is legal in this world, and is actually kinda looked down upon rn, as the current main usage of raised dead is as workers in the city sewers ; in the art below, those yellow things he's holding are the tags that go on the ears of "official" zombies/skeletons/etc )

Anyway, we fought the monster, and actually won- the DM has since told us that we were meant to TPK, but he also gave the sorcerer Fireball, so really idk what he was expecting LMAO. We found out that the crystals weren't actually ruby, but instead the creature's own blood, being effecting by some sort of magical disease (???)

The short-haired man from before, standing neutrally; he is labelled Necromancer Everett. He has short hair with bangs, prominent eyebags, and is wearing sort of business casual attire; neat shoes, dark pants, a collared shirt, and a sweater vest. He has a crossbody book bag, a necklace with a silver skull pendant, and is clutching two yellow ear tags in one hand. After which, Everett (being a nerd wizard) tried to do some arcana/ introspection to try and determine if this was a spell that had been cast on us- and ended up going into his mind palace, and facing the version of himself that this body USED to belong to, screaming inaudibly from the other side of some sort of intangible wall.

Everett tried to communicate with this alternate version of himself by writing in his spellbook, but all the other one would do is write "OUTSIDE" and point, looking very panicked. Coming back to his body, Everett realized that A) the 'cavern' we were all in was, in fact, the inside of some recently-dead creature, and B) there was a glimmer of light from one end.

We ran to the exit, and right as we reached the outside ...

... we woke up.

... So. I'm still reeling from that session LMAO

The DM let us keep the character sheets, but specified that we would not need them again. We also leveled up right after we woke up! So that's cool!
(Now I have to actually choose a subclass tho LOL. I'm between Abjuration & Conjuration rn; lmk your thoughts!!)

Ahhhh and there's so many lore & worldbuilding implications from this that I haven't even gotten to, because it would make this post unbearably long LMAO- like, when Everett first started meditating, he heard screaming from inside his head, but when he reached the other version of himself locked away, he couldn't hear him ?? And at some point he cast Detect Magic and felt the far-off auras of some HUGE creatures in the distance- which, there are megafauna in this world called Titans, but there's only like 5 of those, and these ones felt totally unfamiliar.

AAAAA idk. I'm so excited for the rest of this campaign. I will absolutely keep posting when new crazy shit happens- even if no one else reads this, I want to have them for me LMAO

If you actually read this far ty !!! Sorry for being bad at writing :'D Hope u enjoyed anyway!! ily !!!!!
