I'm a bit behind still, but dungeon 23 is still cooking! This time, I'm doing a dungeon themed after the plane of Dreams, which made me think of a game called JAGS Wonderland, which you can find here: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/m/product/19807

The short version is that each level is just another version of all the other levels, and affecting a room on one level will change how it works on the others. I'm excited for this one!

Level one, done! This level is pretty tame, but it's supposed to be. The really fun part is further in!

On time and finally caught up! Level 2 of the dungeon takes us down to a weird silent-hill-esque version of the village, including a creepy puppet. Next week should be interesting, as I get down to the "true inner nature" of things. I'm really enjoying writing this! I kinda want to actually run it at some point now 😅

I'm a whole week behind, I know, but I finally got level 3 done! I got hung up on what to do with the village, and on the new double-length format. I like being able to write more, but it definitely isn't as easy. I liked the more esoteric nature of this level, though, and I'm looking forward to the idea I had for level 4!

I've actually got a lot of pictures this time, so I'm going to talk more in the next post

So, I kind of got writer's block here in addition to being busy. Trying to make rooms that mirrored each other across every floor AND fit the overall metaphor was kind of tough, actually! Shocking. I ended up writing a lot about the ancillary environment and how it could be slotted in. I actually ran this game last weekend, and it was a lot of fun! I learned some things doing it, too, which is that last picture. It'll probably influence my designs going forward. I also learned that giving myself eight lines instead of four let me write more when I had more to say, which was nice, but made me feel obligated to write more when I didn't, which wasn't so great. I've already got ideas for the next dungeon, but I'm really gonna have to triple-time it to get it done before the time limit. Either way, I'm very happy with how this worked out! I definitely need to add more monster patrol routes and less treasure.
