You sought the deepest depths of the ruined cities, and down there you found entire seas, in caverns once dug by the Firstcomers; oceans of water so infused with technological runoff and arcane effluvia that they flowed alongside the molten blood of the earth without even steaming. There, in the magma-lit depths, you found the descendants of the Firstcomers, who had legends of a cavern without a ceiling and light in shades other than yellow, orange, and red, who could still create some of the lesser marvels of their ancestors and who were delighted to find a stranger from above, even if it took a long time to establish more than the most basic communication.
