What I enjoy most about this is the implication that this opening is relatively fresh, as though any such direct connection requires a non-trivial amount of pain and self sacrifice every time. That the character is rather nonplussed about it speaks to me of the routine agony of modern living.
Yeah, this is pretty much what I was going for. The synthetic skin along the seam of the back panel is a little thinner, but still requires cutting to access. She has to do it regularly enough that at this point it's on par with something like self injections.
