If I'm ever driving down a winding country road in a grey autumnal afternoon and I realize I am being framed in a helicopter shot, I will simply turn around and go right back the way I came. I don't know why people don't get this. The Shining came out like 50 years ago.

[my hands on the wheel at 10 & 2, listening to old folk music on the radio, squinting to see Stanley Kubrick's personal helicopter in the rearview]

Hm. Well, a couple things could be happenin' here. The camera could be establishing a sense of psychological distance from me, its subject, for tonal or thematic purposes. Or perhaps it's meant to embody an inhuman malevolence, vast n' nameless, peering at the mere speck I am to its grand designs.

Either way, I'm turnin' back. That BBQ place is worth an hour's drive but it ain't worth this.

in reply to @bruno's post:

it used to be that the helicopter tailed you 50 miles from the airfield up into the forest, but these days it's all drones and they're much harder to spot. you've got to look out for the guy on the side of the road with a tablet
