idk if this is even the first case of a commercial media release outright stating that they're gonna use machine translation, but it sucks all the same...
the tweet from the official account for the series gives the news in JA and EN but the EN part (as in, the part that's directed at the people who are supposed to read the translated manga) doesn't mention that part about the AI translation for whatever reason!!
the press release linked in the article above says how AI support will shorten the translation workflow by at least half but of course it will still preserve the unique qualities of the original work... ah it suckssssss MTPE sucks don't do this bushiroad don't do this
looking into the "mantra engine" AI solution, it seems like it was used for shueisha's manga plus simulpubs just the other month, but that was met with backlash as well - not sure if shueisha is still using AI or not
addendum: also note that the volumes for this series released by seven seas are separate from the simulpubs announced here. it would seem that seven seas are gonna continue doing the non-simulpub releases with the same loc team as before
