Dragon Quest Treasures has an ability called the Fortune Finder that points you towards the treasure you need to collect. Once you're close enough to it, the game gives you three "visions" of where the treasure could be based on the monsters you have with you. When using more typical monsters like, say, a Slime, these visions are straightforward, expecting you to identify landmarks and terrain to figure out where the treasure is. If you use certain other monsters, however, the visions begin to vary greatly in usefulness. Not all monsters see the world in the same way, naturally.
Some monsters literally see the world in black and white, which may make identifying similar landmarks more difficult due to a lack of color. If a monster is wearing a helmet or anything else that obstructs their vision, that is reflected in the vision you receive, making it all the harder to get much use out of it. If the monster has no eyes, like a Muddy Hand, then you won't see anything at all! Though it's a really simple game mechanically, things like this make every excursion just a bit more interesting so long as you mix up which monsters you bring along, something that the game encourages in multiple ways.
