Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil (PS2)
Wahoo! Klonoa 2 is an absolute banger of a video game. It's on modern platforms now, so you have no excuse not to play it. Apart from being a bit easy, this is the best Klonoa game I've played. Also Tat is a cutie.
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (DS)
The last true Castlevania game... I had a lot of fun with this one. The difficulty scales more harshly than most exploration based Castlevanias, but I never found it to be unfair. The MP system they use limits the ability to cheese fights, making certain bosses particularly brutal. It's a shame this was the end of Castlevania for all intents and purposes, because they really could have come up with something great by expanding on the formula of this game. Also you play as a hot lady who is based on Igarashi's wife. That rules.
Mister Mosquito (PS2)
I'm still surprised at how fun this game was. It's like they expanded on the RC Helicopter formula to make an actually engaging game! The gameplay isn't lifechanging, but it's enjoyable enough with the decent variety in levels. It's kinda bizarre this ever got localized in the first place considering how horny several of the levels are, but I'm glad it happened. I'm looking forward to seeing what improvements are made in the sequel.
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA)
I've played through this game at least 10 times in my life. It's always been my favorite Castlevania game, and I don't really see that changing. The soul system is so innovative that Igarashi continues to use it in his new games, and they got it almost perfect the first time around. The true final boss is kind of a letdown, but beating Death and Julius in each run never gets old for me. Definitely give this a go if you haven't played it yet.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories (PSX)
It turns out there's good reason this is a meme game in speedrunning circles. What an absolutely unfair nightmare Forbidden Memories is. Despite that, it's hard not to love. The music is some of the best Konami put out in this era, and the fake Yu-Gi-Oh ruleset is instantly endearing. The AI is so blatantly unfair that winning each match feels like a small miracle. I lacked the patience to play this without grinding out hundreds of cards on a Pocketstation. I think I would absolutely hate this game if I played it unmodded without a Pocketstation.
