decided to undervolt my hackintoshed T470 (-90mV for cpu and cpu cache, -55mV for gpu). pl1 and pl2 have not been overwritten for some reason.
the battery level is currently being Observed and Measured. my goal is to hit atleast 120 minutes with light browsing (compared to pre-undervolting 90 minutes), after which i will attempt to lower PL1 and PL2 values.
wish voltageshift's documentation didn't suck. so far we're down 3% in 4 minutes (which clearly is not funny)
ran some factorio tests. it's Reasonable.
11-13W (in my largest world) total power draw, doesn't go over 70º. memory usage (which also includes VRAM in these 8GB) is reasonable, still have a gig free even with a few apps open. the game restricts itself to 30FPS max on battery. intended behaviour, i guess.
when not playing a Game, the wattage seems to be under 3W, mostly. reasonable.
so far i'm at 63% in 36 minutes (factorio testing took up like 20%+). there also might be issues with how macOS detects the dual battery setup that thinkpads of this era are notorious for.
actually, i think i even have the last thinkpad that had a dual battery.
youtube is, surprisingly, very power-efficient. overall watching a video on this battery could yield me just under 3h of battery life.
bringing down my backlight brightness can get it up to just above 4h.
i still think it's not enough, but i'm not willing to bring the voltage lower. that crash bootloop was enough for me.
