experimenting and all that.
chief executive dysfunction officer. few of my posts are high-effort, but at least they're funny.
current avatar is an old art by fireflufferz because i'm bored with having michiru pfps.

alas! i would recommend trying to bootstrap together a group if you have the ability; only when you have the energy to reach out to friends and try to comprehend a ruleset together, obv.
i am in opposition with the asker who recommended D&D 5E; i don't think that's a good place to start unless you have a friend who already knows the system pretty well. personally, i will shill D&D (1981) as the best starter TTRPG; it's been cloned a million billion times. Basic Fantasy RPG https://www.basicfantasy.org is a fine clone and extremely free.
if you don't care for character-lethal dungeon-delving, though, then i would generally recommend investigating the OSR (old school renaissance) scene for a game that appeals to you; the OSR is generally interested in simple rulesets. the NSR (new school renaissance) is even more interested in that.
maybe this comment is a lot of advice to give someone unprompted, but i wanted to take a chance to babble about rpgs. hope you didn't mind it :)
