Grapple Dog from @josephgribbin is a 2D platformer that, despite being the titular hook being a biiiit too finnicky for obsessive speedrunning like I did with this year's Neon White, makes all the right decisions and is 100% confident in what it is.
The various challenges scale up in an intuitive way, and seamlessly introduces throwaway or limited concepts that makes them easy to figure out.
The soundtrack deserves A LOT of points for aping the 90s era, to the tee, even making liberal use of the orchestral hit, a sample that's a staple in New Jack Swing, Dance and Early 90's Hip Hop. Yeah, it has it's shredders, notably the theme to The Great Workshop kicks all kinds off ass. But that orchestral hit had me start writing a song about how much I love Nile Rodgers.
OF COURSE I'm recommending it! An exceptionally well put together platformer that can feel a bit frustrating towards the end, but is still worthy of standing on its own as more than a throwback.
