thinking about the confluence between plate armor and mecha as military technologies again... gwitch's corporate feudalism-based world particularly captured that spirit i think. while full plate didn't really reach its peak until military power was switching from feudal lords to states, it's still inextricably tied to the "medieval knight" in the popular consciousness, and thus the "knight in shining armor" is a useful metaphor for the mecha, in both its public perception and the actuality of mecha as portrayed in the real robot genre, as well as an obvious visual inspiration.
which is to say i think we need the real robot genre but for medieval europe-inspired fantasy. idk if twilight gest is really this but i do have a lot to say about the romanticism of chivalry that i hope will come through.
