I'm Ring ᐠ( ᐛ )ᐟ I strive to be your web sight's reliable provider of big scruffy guys getting bullied by ≥7-foot tall monster femboys
You will never guess where to find my art account! Hahahaha! My security is impenetrable! (it's @PlasmaRing)
This is something that's been hard to nail down for me with my original stuff, which is not really diving headfirst into Problematique Themes but does deal with a couple of them in a way that makes me automatically break out the Twitter defensiveness style of clarifying that I don't need to be suspected of [wild conclusions no reasonable person would draw] up front. And while batjokes gets the occasional weirdo in a snit saying we should all be in jail, its status as an established IP that people already have some background in and are attached to means that I would ultimately feel more secure publishing a batjokes erotic torture fic with piss kink than I do even trying to describe an original story where a character with OCD is reassured that his thoughts don't make him an evil predator.
I can actually 100% see that. I haven't even attempted anything original in almost 10 years because fandoms have been enough to sustain me for all that time, and I just don't have any ideas for original stuff; but if I did, I suspect I'd be the same way. Utterly paralyzed with fear.
Actually now that I think about it I wonder if that's behind the thing where people are like "I have devoted my online life to being a South Park liker but I dunno about this trans woman doing a comic about a fictional character stealing pens, seems sus." That combined with mainstream media being granted automatic legitimacy at a level way beyond small independent art. aaaaaaaaa
That's definitely a factor too. Plus a weird fear of sex. Plus ageism, which probably stems from fear of growing up and having actual responsibility. Plus sexism. Plus queerphobia. Plus plus plus plus plus pluuuuuuuus it's a lot and i'm so tired.
